06 Mar for sheep without a shepherd
There was an article in the local paper last week about 14 new shepherds that just graduated from a shepherds academy. It’s a reminder of the Basque Country’s long tradition of raising sheep even though the tradition has gradually waned as society has modernized.
It reminded me of John 10 when Jesus talks about how he is the good shepherd. Today, would you use this passage to pray? You can pray like this…
“He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice.”
Please pray that the Basque people would learn to recognize Jesus’ voice and that they would follow Him.
“But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice.“
Pray that Basque people will not follow after other things that fight for their attention and distract them from Jesus.
” I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture.”
Pray that the Basque people will be saved in Jesus and that they will find true freedom through Him
“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
Pray that Jesus would give the Basque people true life!
“I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me“
Pray that the Basque people would truly know Jesus. Pray that this “knowing” would not just be factual knowing, but would be a personal knowledge that changes their life.
